Manchester City returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. The reigning Premier League champions found themselves a man down after just 26 minutes when Joao Cancelo was shown a straight red card for a foul on Harry Wilson.

However, City showed great resilience to battle back from the setback and take the lead just before half-time through Julian Alvarez. The Argentine striker fired home from close range after Erling Haaland's initial effort was saved by Bernd Leno.

Haaland then doubled City's lead just after the hour mark, finishing off a superb team move with a clinical strike. Fulham pulled a goal back through Andreas Pereira in the 83rd minute, but City held on to secure all three points.

The victory moves City back to the top of the Premier League standings, one point ahead of Arsenal. The Gunners have a game in hand, however, and will face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
