Chelsea Women 9-0 Feyenoord: Kerr and Kirby Net Hat-Tricks in Dominant Display

Blues made light work of Dutch opponents in the first leg of their Women's Champions League last-16 tie

Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby both scored hat-tricks as Chelsea Women thrashed Feyenoord 9-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Women's Champions League last-16 tie at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday night.

The Blues totally dominated proceedings from start to finish,

Sophie Ingle opened the scoring after just five minutes, before Kerr and Kirby netted a goal apiece to make it 3-0 inside the first half an hour.

Kerr completed her hat-trick early in the second half, with Kirby soon following suit.

Jelena Cankovic then made it seven, before Niamh Charles and Guro Reiten completed the rout.

The result leaves Chelsea in a commanding position ahead of the second leg in the Netherlands on March 15th.

Kerr and Kirby in devastating form

Kerr and Kirby were in devastating form for Chelsea,

The Australian striker opened the scoring with a clinical finish from the edge of the box,

And she added two more in the second half, both of which were set up by Kirby.

Kirby also scored a hat-trick,

Her first was a superb solo effort,

While her second and third came from close range.

Chelsea dominant from start to finish

Chelsea were dominant from start to finish,

They controlled possession throughout,

And created numerous chances.

Feyenoord rarely threatened,

And the only time they came close to scoring was when Daniëlle van de Donk hit the crossbar in the first half.

Blues now in commanding position

The result leaves Chelsea in a commanding position ahead of the second leg in the Netherlands on March 15th,

They will be confident of progressing to the quarter-finals,

And they will be hoping to put in a similar performance in the away leg.
